HTC ONE Review

By Claire Booth

The HTC One is one of the best smart phones in 2013 along with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5. It is the successor of the One X and is famous for its aluminum body, frontal stereo speakers, and the new version of Sense.

Your initial impression would be positive as it boasts a quality built and top of the line materials. It looks gorgeous and elegant thanks to its aluminum body, beveled metal edges, and curves. It is perhaps the best-looking phone by far and you do not have to worry about scratches and nicks.

Its display is pretty impressive as well with its 4.7 inches Full HD touch-enabled screen with 1920 x 1080 resolution resulting to 468 ppi.

It has the fast and fluid quad-core 1.7 GHz processor which is also very important because of the Sense 5.0 interface which is very polished and has almost zero lag. You can go for the 32GB or the 64GB. Also, it runs on Android 4.1 and updates are said to be on its way.

Its UI actually has more of a minimalist design. And consumers have different feedback when it comes to the Blink Feed. But this is not a reason to be worried as you can change it or move it away.

This phone has 2 cameras: a 4 megapixel on the back and a 2.1 on the front. You might be shocked to see that it has way lower number of megapixels compared to other devices but picture quality is not just based on this aspect. Also, it has an UltraPixel image sensor which is very effective even on low-light environment.

The HTC Zoe is more of a personal preference as some find it enjoyable while others think its annoying. Basically, it allows you to record three seconds of video and capture up to 20 still images with a single click.

For those who are into music and other multi-media, you will really love the Boomsound. It consists of front-facing speakers with dedicated amplifiers and the Beats Audio for a rich and clearer sound.

Personally, I think that its size is perfect with its height of 137.4, width of 68.2, and depth of 9.3 all in millimeters. It also weighs just right at 143 grams. Other similar devices right now may have larger screens but that would also take out its portability.

The One is truly a great phone and even if HTC did not exert similar efforts when it comes to marketing like the Samsung and Apple did with their products, sales have reached 5 million in less than 3 months and mainly because of the positive feedback and comments from actual users.
