Domestics Agencies-What Makes the Job Challenging for Domestics Agencies

By Alice Sy

For domestics agencies, the challenges they faced in the beginning remains to be a great challenge today-how to find good people. In a business that deals about credibility, trust and reputation more than the services it's more than finding people who can do the job but it's more about finding someone to trust.

How many stories have been on paper and online about a maid being accused of a crime? There have been many cases of employers doubtful about the ability of a maid and the credibility of the agency given the number of negative stories of employers involving their maid. These "horrible" maids have tarnished the reputation of the housekeeping industry and some employers may choose to get a maid but end up installing nanny cams at home just to be sure.

There are domestics agencies who have dealt with rude employees also but it is the maids who've had it worse. Maids are not always the source of trouble. Sometimes they also get in trouble sadly because some employers abuse their power and end up mistreating the poor maid, and they end up blaming the agency too for doing nothing.

Then again, if everyone allows these stories dictate the business then no good story will come true either. There have been many good stories with fairy tale endings. There are deserving maids who have managed to make their dreams come true because of their good employers. On the contrary there are employers who thank their maids for being trustworthy, for being loyal and for being a good friend.

Staying true to the core is challenging for domestics agencies but since there are millions of good people out there in the form of employers, housekeepers, maids or nannies, it will never be the end of such a thriving business. Right now, the challenge is simply to find the right set of people and make their dreams come true.
