Some Helpful Tips For A CDA Interview

By Cathy Mercer

A CDA interview is often a competency based interview that has been made for use by some dental schools for their admissions purposes. This would completely differ from a panel interview because its main focus would be assessing individuals entirely rather than their personal backgrounds and accomplishments. This will often consist of some interview questions that will assess their skills in communication, analysis, judgment and sensitivity to others.

All the queries that are used by the interviewer in throwing questions are the same with the others. The reason for this is that these questions are prepared and made by the professional dental organizations. Moreover, these are not developed to check how much knowledge a certain applicant has. It is used to further evaluate a person on how he could process all his thoughts and apply it in some situations.

There are no correct and wrong answers in here. Instead, the interviewer would hear you out on how well you express your ideas and responses. The answers will be reviewed and weighed to obtain the final result. This is one of the many reasons why it is essential to be mentally prepared in almost all sessions.

Preparation will greatly affect on how you will perform in a particular session. It is necessary to have a preparation ahead of the time so that you will be ready to answer all kinds of queries. With this, you can effectively respond to all types of questions that will be given to you. Practice thoroughly on how you are going to respond to each query.

Preparation for sessions could also be very tricky. It is necessary that the candidate must effectively provide excellent answers to sell themselves for the desired position. Most interviewers can formulate queries that could bring out what type of person the applicant is.

Most questions that will be raised in a session would often test the ability of an individual to communicate properly. They will be given some scenarios that would require them to talk with some people who have personal trouble. The way they manage the entire conversation would test their sensitivity.

More often, interviewers will assess how a certain applicant could gain control even in a stressful situation. Questions regarding how they handle all responsibilities at the same time will be thrown to them. This is to assess the consciousness of certain people. Their answers must be defended and reasoned out as well.

Ethical dilemmas and issues will be used to test the judging and analyzing skills of a person. They must be able to prove that they could handle different situations. Their integrity will also be checked depending on the way they distinguish a rightful act. Organizing all your answers and basing it from some known facts and experiences might help as well.

Always keep your presence of mind in this situation. You must hide all the tension and remain calm all throughout the session. Arriving early can also help you internalize and think for responses to a certain session that you have long waited. Keep in mind that a CDA interview does not test your knowledge about the field of dentistry. There are no wrong or right answers in here. Just speak out your mind and make sure you will land successful in your task.
