Getting Older May Make It Difficult To Eliminate Easy Bruising!

By Jan Doan

Mary, a sixty-five year old woman, sometimes wonders why she has so many bruises. She can't remember ever hitting or running into anything. But, almost every time she looks down, she sees a bruise on her arm. Mary tries to recall her day in her head, but she can't imagine when she acquired a bruise. It seems as though bruises have been getting easier to acquire as she has gotten older. Mary decides to see her doctor, because she can't understand why bruises have been forming so easily on her body.

Sara isn't the only person who has noticed a connection between her age and her tendency to bruise. The answer is simple; people bruise easier as they get older. A bruise forms when a capillary breaks due to small or large impact and blood leaks into the tissues around the point of impact. The older a person gets, the less impact is typically required for bruising to occur.

The older a person gets, the less impact is required. After the capillary is damaged, small blood vessels release blood and reddish-brown marks appear on the surface of their skin. This reddish-brown mark is called a bruise. A bruise can happen to anyone, and eventually it will diminish naturally.

As people get older, the body tissues weaken and the capillaries become easier to break. Another age factor is the thickness of your skin. When age increases, your skin becomes thinner. The skin also loses some of the protective layer that helps protect it against injuries. Without this protective layer, your body is more prone to damage. Thus, without a strong protective layer, your skin is easier to bruise.

Bruises are not usually indicative of a serious issue, and they typically don't last very long. However, there are certain medications that may thin your blood or increase easy bruising. Some of those common medications are: Aspirin, Plavix, Coumadin and Corticosteroids. Although it is not recommended that any individual stop taking these medications without a doctor's advice and consent, these medications have been proven to increase your tendency for easy bruising.

Fish oil, Garlic, Ginkgo, and Ginger are all supplements that may increase your tendency for bruising easily. Although these supplements may decrease blood clots, they also have a thinning effect on the blood. Hence, these types of supplement shouldn't be taken in large doses, if you're concerned about easy bruising.

Along with age, sunlight is a huge contributor to bruising easily. Those of you who have lived their lives under the sun should be aware of this. An excess amount of sunlight doesn't only cause wrinkles, it can increase bruising as well. Basically, too much sun exposure weakens the blood vessel walls and negatively impacts the skin.

As people get older, the body starts to weaken, and easy bruising is only a small part of that. There are many home remedies that can help get rid of an existing bruise, but easy bruising normally increases as age increases. This isn't a medical issue or problem, because it is a natural part of life, but you do not have to give in to this bruising process. Following the all natural Bruises Be Banned daily supplement program has helped people all over the world stop bruising easily completely.
